jeffrey robertson Fitzroy Resident Wins Tattersall's Award

Jeffrey Robertson is Tattersall’s latest Enterprise and Achievement Award winner, following his educational advocacy work for people living with HIV.

The Tattersall’s Monthly Award for Enterprise and Achievement consists of a personal cheque of $5,000 for Jeffrey Robertson and a cheque for $15,000 for Jeffrey’s nominated not for profit organisation, Straight Arrows. The donation was announced at a presentation on Tuesday 24 April at Prahran's “Positive Learning Centre”.

“Jeffrey has overcome some extraordinary disabilities and prejudices as a direct result of living with HIV. Not only has he shown great courage in facing his illness he now works tirelessly to assist people who find themselves in similar circumstances and also has played a significant role in de-stigmatizing the condition he suffers through his continuous work with “Straight Arrows” and other related disability organizations and educational institutions.”

“Jeffrey is a man who takes praise uncomfortably but those who know him well and those who have been touched by his determination, courage and knowledge”, said Tattersall’s Sponsorships Manager, Peter Franich.

This monthly award is designed to acknowledge those in the community who are prepared to ‘have a go’. Since the Awards’ launch in 1980, over 300 men, women and children have been recognised. People have won the Award for heroic deeds, overcoming personal barriers or simply helping someone in need. Whatever their cause, they have always demonstrated persistence and determination above the norm.

Jeffrey Robertson, along with eleven Tattersall’s Monthly Award for Enterprise and Achievement recipients, are in the running to win the 2007 Tattersall’s Annual Award for Enterprise and Achievement, with a $15,000 personal prize and a further $75,000 for the recipients chosen beneficiary. The award will be announced at the Park Hyatt in Melbourne in August 2007.
